Gary Niblett: His Life & Art - Exhibit Opening & Artist Reception

Join us Saturday, November 5th, 2022 for the Exhibit Opening and Artist Reception of Gary Niblett!

This Carlsbad native son graduated from CHS in 1961, and studied briefly at Eastern New Mexico University before transferring to the Art Center College of Design in California. For nearly a decade he honed his skills at Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, Inc. as a background artist, eventually branching out on his own to focus on the Western genre.

At age thirty-three, Gary Niblett became the youngest member ever elected to the prestigious art organization, the Cowboy Artists of America. This same organization awarded Niblett the silver medal for oil painting in 1977 and the gold medal for water color in 1991.

Please mark your calendar for November 5, 2022 for the opening and reception of this special career retrospective. We will be delighted for you to meet the very gracious artist and his wife and see his work in Carlsbad Museum. Food will be provided by HX Chuckwagon out of Lubbock, TX with music by Gary’s good friend Rhone Prather.
